POSITION SUMMARY
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks to support the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure projects. This role requires proficiency in various welding techniques, blueprint reading, and metal fabrication processes to produce high-quality and structurally sound components.
YOUR ROLE
• Perform MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Core (FCAW) welding operations to join metal components in accordance with project specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to ensure precise fabrication.
• Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using saws, shears, torches, and plasma cutters.
• Conduct grinding, drilling, and finishing operations to meet dimensional and quality standards.
• Ensure welds meet structural integrity requirements, performing visual and non-destructive testing as needed.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to move raw materials and finished components.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field crews to troubleshoot and resolve fabrication challenges.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment, following all OSHA and company safety protocols.
• Inspect and maintain welding equipment, tools, and PPE to ensure operational efficiency.
• Work in various environments, including shop and field settings, and adapt to changing project needs.
WHAT YOU BRING
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience in welding and fabrication, preferably in the civil construction industry.
• Certification(s) in AWS (American Welding Society) or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong understanding of metal properties, welding techniques, and fabrication methods.
• Skilled in using grinders, torches, plasma cutters, saws, and other fabrication tools.
• Knowledge of structural and pipe welding is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements for the Welder/Fabricator role include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and working in awkward positions. The role involves exposure to outdoor conditions, confined spaces, and elevated work areas, requiring comfort in varying environments. Candidates must also have the stamina to handle physically demanding tasks and adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed, overnight or out of town stay may be required.
