Position Description
Summary
NW Construction, a leader in heavy civil construction across the Western US, is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Crane Operator to join our Babb, Montana operation. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of cranes in dynamic construction environments, with a strong commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork.
Essential Functions

Operate hydraulic, lattice boom, or other cranes to lift, move, and position loads safely and efficiently.Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure safe operation.Interpret load charts, rigging plans, and lift plans in coordination with site engineers and riggers.Communicate clearly with signal person(s) and ground crew using standard hand signals and radios.Ensure compliance with OSHA, and company safety standards at all times.Maintain accurate records of crane operations and inspections.

Work Environment
Active construction site, mining area, or other industrial setting where large scale projects are taking place.Working around various heavy equipment operations. Exposure to various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind.Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime depending on project needs.
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver's License.Must have current valid NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) certification. Holds a current physical (CDL or DOT) within the last two years; and,Must have a current Montana (MT) crane license, or the ability to obtain the MT crane license before the anticipated start date.Minimum 3 years of experience operating cranes in a construction environment.Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a professional and positive attitude towards coworkers and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.Experience with heavy civil construction projects (e.g., bridges, dams, highways).Willingness to relocate for future job opportunities. OSHA 30 Certification a plusCurrent first aid/CPR Certificate a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and operate equipment for extended periods.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Ability to correctly rig and hoist material.Climb ladders and access crane cabs at elevated heights.Good vision and depth perception for operating equipment safely.Manual dexterity and coordination for operating controls.Able to work long hours, 60 to 70 hours per week.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
