Pay Rate: $70,000 - $75,000

POSITION SUMMARY

The Estimator II (Traffic Signals) is a mid-level position responsible for managing and preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and project bids with moderate supervision. This role requires a deeper understanding of civil construction processes and the ability to manage multiple estimating tasks independently.

YOUR ROLE

Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for planning, organizing, scheduling, and evaluating project cost-effectiveness.
Perform, verify, and compile detailed quantity take-offs for bidding projects.
Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database, ensuring historical data is leveraged for accurate estimates.
Prepare complete estimate folders, proposal packages, and spreadsheets for new bidding opportunities.
Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers, preparing detailed plans and specifications to secure competitive pricing.
Identify and ensure compliance with specific project contract requirements, including DBE and EEO clauses.
Lead the project handoff process, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared for pre-construction meetings with the Project Management team.
Regularly update and maintain subcontractor and supplier information, including certifications like SCTRCA.
Represent the company by attending pre-bid conferences, bid openings, and project meetings.
Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to resolve issues and ensure estimates are complete and accurate.
Assist in mentoring and training Estimator I team members.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.
WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required.
4-6 years of experience in estimating, civil construction, or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related applications; experience with HCSS, Spectrum, or similar software is strongly preferred.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively while managing multiple projects.
Leadership and mentoring skills to guide junior estimators.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Estimator role is primarily office-based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, using a computer, and working with standard office equipment. Occasional site visits may involve standing, walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The role may also require lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
