We are looking for an entry level Construction Safety Officer to maintain a safe and secure worksite for the Shawmut field staff in the tri state area.

Shawmut is a proven leader in creating accident free work zones, and this person will continue Shawmut's success in creating a safe construction environment by working as part of the larger safety team, drawing on past experience and always looking for new, improved safety methods.

Responsibilities

Provide structure around site safety with superintendent and subcontractors
Raise awareness of potential hazards that exist on a jobsite with owner by reviewing what can be done to minimize risk
Conduct regular safety audits throughout the duration of a project assessing all safety related issues and follow up with the project team
Assist subcontractors with site safety needs via tool box talks, safety check lists, job hazard analysis, etc.
Communicate directly with subcontractors to discuss concerns and Shawmut's expectations
Maintain the information technology and systems that are essential to capture and analyze key data, present reporting and communicate effectively
Develop and maintaining strong relationships with every member of the project team, subcontractors and clients
Conduct new hire safety orientations

Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction standardsBachelor's Degree in Safety or related experience preferredWork requires frequent travelPrior safety or construction-related internship a plus
